randombiblescripture.com is a free tool for drawing a random verse, passage, chapter, or book from the Bible. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to install.

How the draw works

Every draw is uniform across whatever pool is active. Drawing from the whole Bible means all 31,102 verses are equally likely, so a verse in Numbers comes up as often as John 3:16. Filtering to a book, a testament, or a topic narrows the pool, and the draw stays uniform within it. Randomness comes from your browser's cryptographic random number generator rather than a shuffled list of favourites.

Which translations

The site stores and displays two public domain translations, the King James Version and the World English Bible. Copyrighted translations are never stored here. Where you see NIV, ESV, NLT, or NKJV offered, the link opens that chapter on Bible.com rather than reproducing the text. The translations page has more detail.
